News and updates from the Champs Sports Bowl, a fast-growing postseason college football game in Orlando every December.  Starting in 2010, the Champs Sports Bowl features the top non-BCS pick from the Big East Conference playing the #3 overall (2nd after BCS) choice from the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Champs Sports and Florida Citrus Sports announced a two-year extension of the title sponsorship for America’s fastest-growing bowl game, the Champs Sports Bowl.  The extension will continue the partnership through 2009.

Three of the biggest names in college football visited Orlando on Tuesday, Aug. 29 for the FCSports Speaker Series. ACC Commissioner John Swofford, Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany and SEC Commissioner Mike Slive participated in the biggest event in Speaker Series history, appearing together at the Embassy Suites Hotel Downtown Orlando for a discussion on Orlando, the bowl system and all of college athletics.

Florida Citrus Sports and ESPN announced the Champs Sports Bowl will be played in primetime this December. The game, first of two bowls hosted in Orlando only 65 hours apart, will kick off at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 29, 2006, airing nationwide on ESPN.

Andrew Rizzo, a high school student from Utica, N.Y., has a once in a lifetime opportunity to win a million dollars by throwing a football into a 24-inch diameter target from 30 yards out during the Champs Sports Bowl, which takes place on Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at the Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium in Orlando, Fla. Randall Cunningham, former NFL Philadelphia Eagles and Minnesota Vikings Legend, will act as Rizzo's honorary coach.

Clemson and Colorado kicked off Champs Sports Bowl week Thursday night with a visit to one of Orlando's oldest attractions, Gatorland. Players, coaches and administrators from the two schools had an opportunity to have dinner and enjoy various shows at the 110-acre theme park that was founded in 1949.

Football fans in Central Florida had a chance to meet 63 players selected in the National Football League Draft through Florida Citrus Sports (FCSports) events. Drafted players gained experience in the Central Florida area through events such as the Cingular ABC Sports All-America Celebration, Capital One Bowl, Champs Sports Bowl and The Villages Gridiron Classic and the Walt Disney World Florida Classic.
