Open Audition Commences for Bowl Games Public Address Announcer

For 30 years, Florida Citrus Sports and its bowl games have been blessed with the golden pipes of Bob Matheison handling the public address announcing duties. After three decades, Matheison has announced that he is retiring from the booth and turning over the reins to someone else. In the spirit of competition, FCSports has decided to open up to the public the audition to fill Matheison’s shoes.

Gators Ranked #10 In Advance Of Florida Citrus Sports Shootout

The University of Florida Gators mens' basketball team is ranked No. 10 nationally in the first official poll of 2011-12. The team is set to visit Orlando in just over a month for the 2011 Florida Citrus Sports Shootout, the college basketball game held at Orlando’s Amway Center on November 28. This year’s “Shootout” will feature the Gators versus the Stetson University Hatters.

Orlando Mini Open pres. by Roetzel and Andress almost sold out
With less than a week before the event, only nine foursomes remain for the Orlando Mini Open presented by Roetzel and Andress. The Open is the primary fundraising event for the Florida Citrus Sports Foundation MVPs. Foursomes are $500, while individual tickets may be purchased for $125. All proceeds benefit the Foundation MVPs and FCSports’ efforts in Central Florida.

Florida Citrus Sports CFO Named "CFO Of The Year" In Orlando
Florida Citrus Sports Chief Financial Officer Dennis Braziel was named the Orlando Business Journal's nonprofit CFO of the Year.  The award was announced in Friday's issue of the OBJ and presented during a luncheon at the Sheraton Orlando Downtown.

FCSports Shootout Continues Local Flavor With Florida vs. Stetson

The Florida Citrus Sports Shootout, a neutral-site basketball game that produced early-season fireworks in 2010, will return this season with a game featuring the University of Florida Gators against the Stetson University Hatters. This year’s “Shootout” will take place on Monday, November 28, 2011, at Amway Center in Orlando. Tickets go on sale to the general public June 21 via Ticketmaster.com while Florida Citrus Sports members and those who purchased tickets to last year’s game will have an opportunity to purchase in advance.

FCSports Challenges Community to Support Alabama

Florida Citrus Sports is launching an initiative to help those so affected by the late-April tornadoes that ripped through the Southeast, devastating portions of Alabama. The organization has partnered with local ABC affiliate and official media partners WFTV Channel 9 to match a $100,000 contribution toward those efforts, specifically focusing on providing aid in Tuscaloosa.

Banners from this past year's Capital One Bowl and Champs Sports Bowl game were donated to Wycliffe Global Alliance, who used them for shelter materials in Papua New Guinea.
