Official Time for Inaugural Orlando Kickoff Announced

The Atlantic Coast Conference and Florida Citrus Sports have released the time for the inaugural Orlando Kickoff, scheduled for Monday, Sept. 5 (Labor Day). The game, slated for 8:00 p.m. ET, will feature a pair of projected Top 25 teams in the Florida State Seminoles and Ole Miss Rebels televised nationally from the Orlando Citrus Bowl on ESPN.

50 Years Later Morgan State Returns To Orlando

During bowl week, Florida Citrus Sports will host members of the 1966 Morgan State University football team, paying homage to its historic Tangerine Bowl victory a half-century ago.

On December 10, 1966, the Morgan State College Bears defeated the West Chester (Pa.) State College Rams, 14-6, for win number 18 of what would become a 31-game winning streak. Under the leadership of College Football Hall of Fame coach Earl Banks, Morgan State was one of the winningest college football teams – regardless of race – of the 1960s (71-16-1). In addition, 41 players from Banks’ teams went on to play professional football, including 1966 Tangerine Bowl Most Valuable Player and future NFL Hall of Fame middle-linebacker Willie Lanier.

Florida Citrus Sports Partners With College Football Playoff to Support Education In Orlando Citrus Bowl Neighborhoods

Florida Citrus Sports announced a partnership with the College Football Playoff (CFP) Foundation that will result in the funding of classroom project requests for public schools in the neighborhoods surrounding the Orlando Citrus Bowl Stadium. Orlando is the sixth city to partner with the CFP Foundation's first city outside of the “New Year’s Six” bowl host cities to partner with the CFP Foundation.
