The Florida Citrus Sports Foundation MVPs

Proceeds generated by Florida Citrus Sports events benefit charities and educational institutions, including the primary beneficiary, the Florida Citrus Sports Foundation MVPs. The Foundation is committed to enhancing the quality of life for disadvantaged youth and families in Central Florida. This is accomplished through the Foundation’s charitable contributions to organizations dedicated to improving the lives, health and education of children in our community.

FCSports has been giving back to Central Florida for over 60 years, and the FCSports Foundation MVPs and associated programs are the organization's main charitable arm.

Summer Camp
More than 300 economically-disadvantaged children between the ages of 10 and 15 participate in one of two FREE summer camp sessions. Camps focus on academics, athletics, attitude and achievement in a safe and productive environment. Also, camps stimulate confidence and teamwork in participants while teaching valuable life skills. In each session campers participate in:

  • Physical activities such as basketball, football, dance, martial arts, soccer and swimming.
  • At least three hours of weekly instruction in computer and internet skills in the Warren Sapp Computer Lab, located in the offices of Florida Citrus Sports.
  • Weekly field trips to theme parks and the Orlando Science Center.

Take Stock in Children
Florida Citrus Sports is the Founding Partner of Take Stock in Children in Orange County. Take Stock in Children is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing scholarships, mentors and hope to Florida’s underprivileged youth. The program offers students a comprehensive plan of success for selected students. Students must sign a contract to stay in school, maintain good grades and meet with a mentor once a week. In turn, Take Stock in Children provides each student a fully paid tuition scholarship to attend college or a vocational school. Every student in the program receives:

  • A fully paid college tuition scholarship.
  • A mentor who meets the child at their school for one hour a week for support and motivation.
  • Continuous monitoring and intervention services provided by a skilled student advocate.
  • Active engagement of parents in a child’s academic and personal development.
  • Career and educational counseling.

Day for Kids
Physically, emotionally and financially disadvantaged children enjoy an afternoon of food, fun and festivities at a Walt Disney World® attraction while interacting with the players participating in the Champs Sports Bowl and Capital One Bowl.

Dream Ticket Clearinghouse
Each year, the Florida Citrus Sports Foundation distributes more than 15,000 athletic event tickets free of charge to disadvantaged families through its Dream Ticket Clearinghouse. The program has evolved and expanded over the years as professional and college teams throughout Central Florida have become involved and donated tickets to this great charity effort.
