Players and coaches from Nebraska and South Carolina met at DisneyQuest for Day for Kids, a charity event with the Florida Citrus Sports Foundation. The Cornhuskers and Gamecocks took time out of their Capital One Bowl preparations to spend some time with disadvantaged children from around Central Florida.

On behalf of its Selection Committee, Florida Citrus Sports’ Chairman Michel Champagne and CEO Steve Hogan announced today that the South Carolina Gamecocks and Nebraska Cornhuskers have been selected to play in the 2012 Capital One Bowl. The New Year’s classic will kick off at 1:00 p.m. on January 2nd from Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium in Orlando and will be televised nationally by ESPN.

The inaugural Big Ten Championship Game will feature a welcome rematch from the regular season as Michigan State and Wisconsin meet again in Indianapolis. The first showdown was perhaps the most memorable conference game of the season, as a 44-yard Hail Mary pass from Spartan quarterback Kirk Cousins bounced into the hands of his former backup Keith Nichol for the winning score as time expired. The loss crushed the Badgers’ hopes for a BCS National Championship Game appearance and set both teams on a collision course for a “double or nothing” showdown with the Big Ten’s Rose Bowl berth on the line.

The No. 1 LSU Tigers (11-0, 7-0 SEC) and the No. 3 Arkansas Razorback (10-1, 6-1 SEC) clash in Baton Rouge in the final week of the regular season. The implications of this game have only increased throughout the season, as both teams remain in the hunt for the West Division title and a possible spot in the National Championship game. A loss could land one of the teams in Orlando in January. This matchup will be a test between LSU’s aggressive secondary and Arkansas’s talented offensive skilled players.
