Winners Announced in Big Time College Pick ‘Em Contest
After 14 weeks and nearly 200 games picked, Florida Citrus Sports congratulates John Hilston on his first-place finish in this year’s Big Time College Pick ‘Em regular season competition.
Hilston topped the individual leaderboard with 149 correct selections on the season, narrowly beating out Dennis Hanisak, who finished second with 148.
A Florida Citrus Sports member since 2011, Hilston is part of the organization’s Team Selection Committee. He is a professor of economics and history at Eastern Florida State College and is also an adjunct professor at Valencia College. He previously taught at Seminole State College as well as six different institutions in the Cleveland area.
A graduate of Grove City College, Cleveland State University and UCF, Hilston is a self-professed Cleveland- and Ohio-area sports fan. He will receive the grand prize — a VIP package for four to either the Camping World Bowl on Dec. 28 or the Citrus Bowl on Jan. 1.
In addition, Woody Rodriguez has won the group competition’s First Prize, a catered viewing party for 20 for a major college football game of his choosing. A member since 1999, Woody serves as the general counsel for Orange County Public Schools and graduated from the Florida State College of Law. His league, “Noles & Tigers & Lions, Oh My,” collectively made 723 correct picks on the season en route to the top spot.
